Here we are again, the end of summer melting into the cool of fall, but first, it’s time for one last hurrah in the form of Labor Day weekend. A gift from American labor organizations, this holiday offers a reprieve from work and school to celebrate our professional contributions each day.
In Houston, Labor Day is an Event, and this year is no exception.
Sam’s Limousine can help make this Labor Day 2019 your best yet with all that Houston has to offer this weekend!
The only question is how to celebrate, but our team at Sam’s Limousine has all of the plans and tips you need to make your best Labor Day ever!
Labor Day Musical Stylings
The weekend kicks off early on Thursday when Jersey meets Houston, with DJ Pauly D of Jersey Shore fame hosting a special event at Stereo Live Houston. The next day, join the Backstreet Boys for an early Labor Day celebration at the Toyota Center on August 31st.
For a classical twist, we will head on down to Miller Outdoor Theatre where the orchestral stylings of Bach & Piazzolla transform into a cultural fusion of musical styles from around the globe. Free lawn seating keeps it affordable, but tickets are also available if you prefer a closer view.
The Houston Symphony will also be hosting a special performance of “The Little Mermaid,” with live musical accompaniment to the film itself.
Both shows will offer performances on both August 31st and September 1st.
Saturday also brings hip hop trap artist Gucci Mane performing live at Clé Houston. Enjoy a pool party of epic proportions. Upgrade your experience with VIP tables and seating, and party like a rock star in your own posh party bus as you arrive for the show and a day in the sun.
Sam’s Limousine will take you right to the middle of the party so you can stroll in like the VIP you are!
Culinary Delights & Cocktails
Beer lovers rejoice because the 10th Annual Brewmasters Craft Beer Festival is heading to Galveston’s Moody Garden Hotel, Spa, and Convention Center. From August 30th through September 1st, enjoy educational seminars and tasting experiences from local favorites like Texas Brewery and Brew-B-Que and even a specially curated tequila experience presented by Nach-Yo Ordinary Tequila.
September 1st features the Taste of the Caribbean Festival for a one-day bash dedicated to island flavor. Enjoy samplings of traditional island fare amidst a collection of cultural delights celebrating the art, music, and dance of the Caribbean’s best.
Enjoy the comfort of an opulent vehicle with the convenience and style that will make your Labor Day one for the ages.
Arts & Culture
Fashionistas will not want to miss the Museum of Fine Arts Houston on September 2nd. The famed museum will deviate from its regular hours, opening the doors on Monday to feature its brand-new exhibit, Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography. Also featured at the famed museum is Friday night’s Music on the Plaza featuring live musical acts and poetry readings.
Fan of Bohemian Rhapsody? The spectacular music comes to life this weekend with the Sugar Land Tribute to Queen. Hosted at the Sugar Land Town Square, enjoy all of your favorite tunes at this free event. Later in the evening, enjoy family-friendly karaoke with beer and wine for the 21 and over crowd.
George Ranch offers a cultural experience every day of the year, but they really go all out for Labor Day. Their Backyard BBQ event will transport you back to the 1930s on this historic property, with food and music from the decade. Enjoy discounted admission for the little ones and spend the day stepping back into time!
Kids will love the onboard entertainment and marvel over the stargazer lighting, while Mom and Dad delight in amenities like reclining leather seats, personalized climate control, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, and of course, extra safety features to keep the whole family safe and sound.
Last Minute Travel
Take the holiday weekend as an opportunity for a quick jaunt out of town. Houston’s central location means that neighboring festivities are just a quick trip away!
Sink into the plush interior of your private chariot and allow your personal driver to whisk you away to a place where summer never ends.
A quick 45-minute drive will take you to Brazos Bend State Park where you can observe wild alligators and many species of birds. Campsites are available, but less adventurous visitors can tuck into one of the screened shelters or cabins available on-property.
In just two hours, you can be beachfront at Sea Rim State Park. With boardwalks aplenty, there’s even an exclusive boardwalk spanning over 4,000 miles of marshland. With camping, kayaking, fishing, and birdwatching, there’s plenty to see and do for the entire family.
The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association is hosting its annual Labor Day Classic in Galveston. Tournaments will continue throughout the day, with free entry to spectators and minor entry fees for participants. The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association is the largest group of its kind on the Gulf Coast and offers a fun and healthy way to spend your Saturday afternoon, with less than an hour of drive time.
